Ser en estar betekenen allebei “zijn” in het Spaans. Maar wat is dan het verschil? Ondanks dat ze allebei “zijn” betekenen is er wel degelijk een verschil. Kortgezegd gebruik je het werkwoord ser wanneer iets permanent is. Estar daarentegen gebruik je wanneer iets tijdelijk is. Als het biivoeglijk naamwoord een eigenschap aangeeft die door de spreker als kenmerkend / blijvend wordt gezien, gebruik je ser. Als het gaat om een (voorbijgaande) toestand, een afwijking van de norm, gebruik je estar.
